Well, today many sisters from around Boston and beyond are heading to Fenway Park. Back in the 1950's they used to have what was called "Nuns Day at Fenway Park." This time the invitation came with the title "Sisters Day at Fenway Park." Good...because "nuns" are actually women religious who are cloistered, live in a monastery, and would not be likely to go "out to the ball game." Sisters are apostolic women religious who live and minister among people. Yes, we come in all sizes, shapes, and ages...but we are not cloistered or monastic. It's interesting that the Springfield Republican newspaper continued to use the word "nuns" in an article they posted yesterday. Here is the link to the article.

It seems that the inspiration for this event came from a woman in Springfield whose daughter works with the Red Sox. It's all explained in this article.
A Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston is throwing out the first pitch. So...stay tuned for pictures later today or tomorrow.
